You are in Ca, right? I think your state is an anomaly because of Prop 13, is that what it's called? that locks you property taxes in to low rates of increase.

I am in Seattle area. Taxes are not so bad here as compared to some listings I've seen on this thread. I pay less than 1% a year.

RE: penalize new housing, where I live in Canyon Park there is more development going on now than I can remember seeing in the last 15 years of living here.
