Well, freedom of speech intersects with protection of privacy. I mean, how would you feel if a blogger, say, got hold of all your private photos, or all your private emails, and posted information from them?

I am not saying journalism is sacrosanct by any means but at least there are some checks and balances that people try to observe. Bloggers are uncharted territory, so even though Terry is probably right and this is just good PR, showing AAPL to be a bit of a tough guy, I also think its important to set a precedent about blogging. The New York Times for instance would not release those rumors about what's coming down the pike with AAPL. THe kind of protection journalists seek about sources is usually in political/foreign policy situations.

Anyway, I'd probably better avoid the topic further as it's rather close to my heart :).
