Wolfowitz definitely has all the qualities required for the job, and is of the right pedigree, if you know what I mean. But, alas, I have read he isn't interested, although his protestations may be a clever ruse. But, looking at this list of UN agencies and organizations, I am sure they could find an equally suitable position for him somewhere.

Perhaps he could be the head of: United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Office of the (OHCHR) - Geneva, Switzerland or
United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) he does have some experience! or
Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) or
International Court of Justice (ICJ) (as a judge, not defendant!)
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (he would probably earn bonuses here) etc.
I just came back from a day in the States, attending a memorial service for my cousin. I was struck with the familiarity of the good people there, who are no different than the folks at home here. The people are not an issue in my mind. So, if there is a problem, it must be one of the leadership and the system which spawned it.
I'm not well versed or even well read in some of the discussions you and others have regarding 911, Oklahoma, etc. But I do detect a common theme, a fear that the US is on the verge of being hijacked by right wing ideologues, neocons, which could end democracy in the US as we know it. I sincerely hope you are all wrong. I sincerely hope you are all just a bunch of alarmist conspiracy nuts. But if the checks and balances on power are failing, maybe your cries of warning may in some way have an influence. For me, I will pay attention, closer attention than I otherwise would have and make my own judgments. And I am probably not alone. |
