Phil > I'm not well versed or even well read in some of the discussions you and others have regarding 911, Oklahoma, etc

If some of the most significant events in the history of the US have passed you by then who am I, particularly as a non-American, to wake you from your slumber? I don't believe you're a fool and if you, spontaneously, have not detected that the official story concerning these events is untrue then so be it.

> I do detect a common theme, a fear that the US is on the verge of being hijacked by right wing ideologues, neocons, which could end democracy in the US as we know it

IMO, that is correct and what you suggest has, in fact, already happened. But don't let it disturb you or the good people whom you know across the border.

> I sincerely hope you are all just a bunch of alarmist conspiracy nuts.

A conspiracy nut I am but I'm not alarmist. It should have been obvious to all that I'm in enough sh1t in Africa without having to worry about North America as well.

> if the checks and balances on power are failing, maybe your cries of warning may in some way have an influence.

Even from the other side of the earth, it's clear that the Democrats, with their support of all controversial legislation in Congress and their eager participation in "bipartisan" committees such as the 9/11 Commission are as much part of the tyranny as are the Republicans. Anyway, I'm not warning anyone -- there's no point in it. The die is cast. And since there's very little I can do about my own predicament it's quite obvious I can do even less about anyone else's.

> For me, I will pay attention, closer attention than I otherwise would have and make my own judgments

Exactly as I have done and as I hope to do. Indeed, what else can one do? As they say, if voting could change anything it would be illegal -- and I'm certainly not advocating anything more strenuous.

> And I am probably not alone.

Without any doubt. Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone -- and in a few years' time none of us will be here anyway. So why get upset? In fact, why even care?

But Ray is the man to speak to. As far as he is concerned, I'm just another "doughface". Perhaps you should tell him your concerns?
