NEW FRAMESHOP SERIES: "AMERICAN FASCISM"
March 4, 2005

AMERICANS DISCUSS "FASCISM" - Since the '04 Presidential election, there has been an ongoing discussion of "fascism" in this country. It is a passionate, often heated debate that has been taking place mostly, but not exclusively, in the diaries of major progressive weblogs (e.g., MyDD, DailyKos). As such, the debate about what "fascism" means and its relevance to Americans has remained below the radar of television and print media. This discussion on "fascism" encompasses a broad range of views--far too broad to be endorsed by any one political organization or by any one media organization. Nonetheless, it is an important and timely discussion of interest to all Americans.

FRAMESHOP TO PUBLISH NEW SERIES OF ARTICLES - Over the next few weeks the Frameshop news and media analysis web site (http://www.frameshopisopen.com) will publish a series of original articles by its editor and founder, Jeffrey Feldman. The purpose of the series will be to introduce Americans to the debates unfolding in the country about "fascism", and to provide an entry point for members of the public who may be interested in this topic. The "American Fascism" series will also include editorial views that extend the debate into new areas.

FRAMESHOP - Frameshop (http://www.frameshopisopen.com) presents daily news and media analysis with a focus on the role of political keywords in American life. It was founded by anthropologist Jeffrey Feldman (PhD).

AVAILABILTY - Each installment of the "American Fascism" series will be posted initially to Frameshop (http://www.frameshopisopen.com). Short summaries of each article will also be circulated to members of the Frameshop mailing list, MyDD.com and DailyKos.com. The "American Fascism" series will begin March 5, 2005.

FURTHER INFORMATION - To receive short summaries of the "American Fascism" series as they appear or to receive further information about the "American Fascism" series please send inquiries to AmericanFascism@frameshopisopen.com.
