SDI was brilliant and critical. I remember, at the time, you had liberals like Carl Sagan coming on Nightline claiming it to be scientically impossible (of course, it wasn't, but that was the claim). In reality, how long it might take to get there was a secondary issue. What was important is that we had tough talk backed up with apparent action. It is amusing to me how people don't want to give credit to Reagan for this fairly obvious accomplishment.
