I wonder if Greenspan gets it and is trying to engineer a soft landing by intentionally creating a soft recession. Just a hunch but by the time the yield curve flattens and the slowdown is well underway the long end might then begin a major up move in interest rates as the reckless monetary and fiscal policies of this recent cycle officially come home to roost. Then we have the true bursting of your California housing bubble.
