Such waste is silly but isn't really a big part of the defense budget. Big parts are things like buying major weapon systems, and paying the people in the military. If you try to squeeze at waste the effort itself will take money. I'm not saying it shouldn't be made, but you won't get net savings of hundreds or even tens of billions per year. If you save a few hundred million or even a couple of billion a year it will be worth it but it won't change the overall defense budget very much.

Get rid of the defense pork and I bet we could cut the defense budget by nearly a half and still pay for the soldiers' meals.

How do you define pork in this context?
