Ted, CBS did not lie.....they relied on a bad source for their information. No one is buying the "fake but true" excuse. CBS smelled smoke but couldn't find the fire, so they sparked one themselves, only to be caught with the lighter in hand. I know you think that because that's the way you guys think. However, the rest of us do think like CBS, and do not believe they are making it up. It was a screw up....plain and simple.......not unlike what Fox does on a regular basis and you guys say nothing. However, with CBS, its really exciting for you when they screw up because they rarely do. This is one of those rare times when you can slap CBS's hand. It must be hard being you guys! No need to tell me that CBS was snookered. Even with the proof of forgery right in front of them, they stood by their story until public pressure forced them into a mea culpea. Dan Rather and his producer had a certain credibility and respect within CBS. Its common to stand behind such a person. Its only when all the facts were reviewed did CBS back off from its position. That does not change the fact that CBS is a respected and creditable media source. And you talk as if Delay were the standard of honesty and decency in this country. In fact, he is just the opposite. I never said anything about Delay's honesty or lack thereof. Both an honest person and a dishonest person is equally likely to be peeved at CBS's stunt. The woman who Delay flamed was not connected with the Bush story. What he did was rude and disingenuous. Maybe that's the best we can expect of a dishonest cockroach exterminator but I would think we can expect better of you. I guess I was wrong. ted
