Funny the way the right is attacking Rather. Normally you would think that, when the person you perceive as an opponent is retiring, good folks would be gracious enough to let bygones be bygones. That's pretty much how Americans in my lifetime have shown their class.

It IS peculiar, isn't it? I was thinking the same thing at the gym tonite. When a person they perceive as a liberal screws up, they are like mad pit bulls. I was watching a little bit of Scarsborough.........when suddenly he went into the whole W. Churchill thing again. He was doing still another diatribe on Churchill; actually there was three of them on camera. Even Hannity briefly mentioned him again.

And then on another show, they were talking about Dan Quayle.....do you remember him.......he complained about Murphy Brown being an unwed mother? I remembered how surprised I was back then that the VP of the US was over the top concerned with a tv show and how the right's indignation over the matter kept going and going and going. They wouldn't stop. I remembered wondering if these people have enough going on in their lives.

But I suppose they figure that Rather will start saying what he couldn't say at CBS, where he had to remain relatively neutral. Now he will be free to say whatever he thinks... so as is typical, they will discredit anyone that disagrees with Bush as a wacko or a liar or a degenerate. Classic Rove.

According to CJ, they really were out to get Rather. I think he started out at a TX tv station and had some run ins with Bush and/or the GOP back then.

I remember when the country wouldn't tolerate that kind of crude behavior. But those days are gone, now we revel in crushing our political opponent. It's not the same country; it's not polite. Frankly, it's rude, disgusting.

I agree.
