Not to beat this horse to death, but is it not strange that the possibility, or more accurately, probability, of an earthquake does not seem to deter people from living and moving to these locations. As an example, after the Florida hurricane last year, one would expect a drop in housing demand, but instead it went straight up from what I have read, especially anything along the coast.

The same thing has happened here, where waterfront property fetches astronomical prices.

This says something about human nature I guess.
