Much of the recent strength in long -term bonds apparently reflects expectations that pension funds will substantially hike the percentage of their assets in such bonds because of regulatory changes. These shifts could run into the hundreds of billions of dollars according to a recent survey.

This makes MUCH more sense than the idea that strength in long bonds reflects fears of deflation.
