Qualcomm's 'Unique Pricing Power'

Standard & Poor's Equity Research reiterated a "strong buy" rating on Qualcomm (nasdaq: QCOM - news - people ), saying the wireless-technology company has recently announced a series of steps "that we regard as favorable." Qualcomm recently boosted its stock buyback program to $2 billion from $1 billion, and increased the quarterly dividend by 29%. In addition, the company announced Irwin Jacobs will step down as chief executive, though he will stay on as chairman. He will be succeeded by his son Paul Jacobs as chief executive effective July 1 as Steve Altman will become president. S&P Equity Research said Qualcomm's board of directors has exercised corporate governance in reviewing all aspects of this change. "We believe Qualcomm has unique pricing power, and we strongly advise purchase," the research firm said.
