1) We are morally superior. That may not always be the case, but just to simplify matters, let us say that that is true.

I think its a safe assumption when you are talking about government's like Saddam's regime or Kim Il Sung's.

2) We are only trying to help others.

Actually that is not assumed. That we are trying to help others is assumed by Elroy's argument but not that we are ONLY trying to help others.
