Any time there is a personal loss the reactions are going to be initially 'denial' followed by 'blame'. It is the first two stages of Kubler Rosse Five stages of dealing with grief.

The fact that people blame the US govt. when someone dies should be no surprise, and it doesn't necessarily explain anything about the big picture.

When I was young and working on a labor crew, we blamed Harry for everything that went bad. Harry was a forman that had quit six months before. I never even met Harry. We blamed Harry because we were pissed and we needed a way to deal with it that would not make our problems with each other worse. We knew it was probably our own faults when something went wrong. It became a joke, but we still did it to get over the rough spots ... frick'n Harry!
