Three Consecutive Quarters of Revenue and Port Market Share Leadership Propel QLogic to Number One Position for All of 2004

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- QLogic Corp., the company that powers storage area networks (SANs), today announced that QLogic ranked number one in market share for Fibre Channel host bus adapter ports shipped and revenue in 2004, according to the Dell'Oro Group's Quarterly SAN Report, 4Q04. According to Dell'Oro Group, QLogic shipped a market leading 45 percent of Fibre Channel HBA ports in calendar year 2004, compared to 38 percent for its nearest competitor. QLogic was also the revenue leader in 2004 with 43 percent market share. The company achieved port and revenue leadership in the second quarter of 2004 and maintained the number one ranking in both categories through the fourth quarter.

``The popularity of our SANblade(tm) line of host bus adapters is driven by product leadership and the benefits the products bring to SAN administrators,'' said Frank Berry, vice president of marketing, QLogic Corp. ``With a single-chip architecture, broad operating system support and wizard-based management, SAN administrators are standardizing on QLogic HBAs across rack, tower and bladed servers from major vendors including Dell, HP, IBM and Sun.''
