Other than the Bible, what is the historical proof of Jesus as the Son of God (or even that a guy named Jesus was walking around the Earth: the contemporary Roman records have yet to been found naming him), and really, how is Christian belief different in kind than what the Mormons believe about Joseph Smith? He was purportedly visited by angels telling of Jesus' adventures in the New World. Joseph Smith is a historical figure as well, but you don't seem to be jumping on that bandwagon, even though the contemporary historical evidence of his existence is well known. I don't expect you to convert even if it is hundreds of years more current and there are actually American documents that demonstrate Joseph Smith was a real and actual person. Could 11 million Mormons be wrong? One of the faster growing religions, BTW. I know, you think that they are a cult. That's what early Christians were too.
