From Contrary Investor (don't have a link to the original article from a few days ago): The folks at the National Association of Realtors (NAR) have done us a favor. For the first time ever, they recently released a detailed study of the complexion of second home ownership. What they found was that in 2004, 23% of all homes purchased in the US were "second homes" for investment. Moreover, another 13% of all home purchases were "second home" vacation properties.
