That's an assumption with which I am not entirely comfortable. There is no guarantees the pendulum will swing back. The GOP has amassed a huge amount of power.

They deserve some respect for what they have accomplished, but let's not overestimate their prowess. That is just as dangerous.

How far can they take Creationism?

How far can they go with the tax cuts in favor of the rich?

How much longer can they mismanage the economy?

How much longer can they mismanage the war in Iraq?

These people are good at this stuff, but they are not supermensch.


Mary, these were the same arguments presented prior to the election. Having posted here for a while, its clear that there are two fairly divergent views on how to run this country and the direction in which it should go. The people whose POV supports Bush have a plurality albeit a small one. They currently control the legislature and executive branches and may eventually control the judiciary.

All I am saying is that there is some reason to believe its different this time and that it may not be simply a temporary swing. FWIW.
