If people power brings about Democracy, I doubt very much that those people will trade one form of despotism for another by going to a Taleban style government. However, if that were to happen, then the U.S. needs to respect the wishes of those countries to rule themselves as they please. If they start trying to acquire WMD or start funding and supporting terrorist attacks, while harboring known terrorists in their country, then I'd say they are making themselves a target for our military, yes.

I believe that people have a right to rule themselves. However, if they use that right to engage in terrorism or criminality, then other countries have a right to defend themselves. So I would fully support an invasion of any country harboring or funding terrorist attacks against our country.

I'll even go farther. If any Muslim country chooses a Taleban style government and then tries to acquire WMD, then I'd say we have to do a full court press to ensure they don't get them. If it looks like they will get them, then we should attack.

The U.S. should pull out all the stops to ensure that no more countries acquire WMD. Period. Then when it comes to countries aggressively opposed to our way of life, then that is doubly true of them, and I'd support an invasion of those countries to stop them.
