I think everyone has to recognize that we can't attack every country in the Middle East. But what I do believe is that Iraq was necessary. The region needed a shake up and Iraq did the trick. Where the pieces land will be up the people in the region. Hopefully, they choose freedom and Democracy and are willing to enforce their will with their blood. If not, then they don't stand a chance. We will never agree on this one. I don't believe violence is the way to birth a democracy. I also believe like the article says that it has to come from the people, not from a third party. We are only seeing fleeting glimpses that the Iraqis are willing to carry the load. If Iraq were a hospital patient, the pulse would be a weak one indeed. In fact, I suspect the people have become traumatized and don't want to participate at all. We will see but I bet Iraq does nothing more than flounder for the next 5-10 years. ted
