We share both surnames, firstnames, hair color, skin color... woops..colour... We're both math dorks. I've been intrigued by the parallels in our lives for about 6-7 years now ( whenever I changed my moniker to KR) "It has been said that Mr Simpson frequented low company, with whom he used to guzzle porter and gin: but it must be observed that the misconduct of his family put it out of his power to keep the company of gentlemen, as well as to procure better liquor. It would be fair to note that others described Simpson's conduct as irreproachable" so when I found polybiblio and read this: "Simpson was the first to characterize the errors in observations as independent events, taking positive and negative values with equal probabilities, and the first to provide a mathematical expression for the probability that the error in the mean result will lie between assigned limits " i remembered that just a year ago on a long airplane ride I coded a computer program that simulated craps rolls and searched for patterns in the probabilities of certain events based on the observations of X numbers of rolls ( 100's, 1000's, millions) certainly my DNA holds the drive for statistical perfection!
