these were the same arguments presented prior to the election. Having posted here for a while, its clear that there are two fairly divergent views on how to run this country and the direction in which it should go. The people whose POV supports Bush have a plurality albeit a small one. They currently control the legislature and executive branches and may eventually control the judiciary.

All I am saying is that there is some reason to believe its different this time and that it may not be simply a temporary swing. FWIW.

My hope is that the electorate is a lagging indicator.

Karl Rove has put together a coalition that may be difficult to hold together for very long.

The neocons and the evangelical right have very little in common, if anything. The fiscal conservatives have nothing in common with the irresponsibilities of the current adminstration's economic team.

All these disparate groups have valid arguments. It is all in the execution.

But, above all, Karl Rove has done a masterful job in hiding the shortcomings of George W. Bush - his lack of studiousness, meager intellectual preparation, and poor scholarship.

Ordinarily a man with George W. Bush's IQ level and academic preparation could not succeed in any of our successful business corporations. It would be very difficult for a person of his intellectual capacilities to climb to the top of Intel or even AMD.

But, somehow, he is in a position where we need an intellectual giant - or even a decent intellect who seriously applies himself.

Ultimately, I just hope, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time.
