That's what monetarism is all about. Privatize profits while socializing the costs.

If we lived in a capitalist economy, these loans would not be made.

These loans are only possible because the lending system is heavily subsidized by the monetarist tax on savers - leading to horrific mis-allocations of capital.


Amazing all this is going on with the party in charge that once stood for entirely different principles. Isn't it ironic the mainstream media and the other party haven't figured it out either. This horrific mis-allocation of capital IMHO is the conundrum for Greenspan and something he is just now coming to grips with. There appears no way out without a lot of pain. And most engaging in this reckless speculative behaviour deserve it. Hopefully our current leaders remember the past and let the system allow a complete natural cleansing to take place.
