What you say rings true about a doctor friend of mine who works at a clinic -- he works probably 10 hours a week more than he used to and has less time per patient, and I think his pay hasn't risen much faster than my own over that span.

One problem is that in electronics, efficiency improvements led to price declines. This is for the most part untrue in medicine where the high cost of a bypass in the 60s did not drop drastically as it became routine. Kind of like having my car worked on -- a 30 minute job that the book says is 90 minutes costs me $240 in labor regardless (at most shops anyway).
