I knew Cingular was going to aggressive with respect to WCDMA/HSDPA but I think I may have still been underestimating them.

The third presentation provided the most info.

- 15 to 20 of the top 100 markets by the end of '05 with the rest of the markets by the end of '06, maybe early '07.

- The CFO talked multiple times about the fact that their business case for UMTS basically looked at it as an acceleration of capex that otherwise would have been spent on GSM voice. He stated that this only applies if they actually follow through by putting voice minutes on the network and not just using it as a data pipe.

- The RFP's required mid priced UMTS handsets ($200 to low $200's). These are handsets with good form factors and features so they dont have to subsidize handsets to move significant amounts of gross adds and voice capacity onto the network. There are penalties for both companies if they dont meet the schedule.

- They wont hold up UMTS to wait for HSDPA....but they see the rollouts rapidly converging.

- Handoffs between EDGE and WCDMA are required.
