I am unclear to what construction you are referring. From what I've learned, the only construction they have done to the building has been retrofiting in case of earthquakes. That's an absolute necessity for a building 1000 years old located in earthquake country. My understanding is that work was done over ten years ago. It is also my understanding that the Arabs are very proud/respectful of the building's design and would not damage it intentionally.

I learned a little about this when in college I took a random class freshman year entitled "Issues in Biblical Civlization." It was one of the classes that turned me off to religion for good.

I was referring to actual construction on the building itself. I had not realized the two groups of idiots, Israelis and Palestinians, were both building underground all around the Mount and turning it into a political football:

The Dome of the Rock is impressive if not overdone. However, the al-Aksa mosque is the architectural prize. I hope both buildings collapse from the BS fighting.......that's what they deserve. They make me sick.

Just so that you know......in earthquake country, you don't excavate the ground under buildings, particularly old ones. Earthquakes send out waves of energy. Most soils tamp down these bolts of energy and diffuse their power. An empty/hollowed out space does not slow them down at all.

Of coure, the Israelis and Palestinians know that. They are building all these underground tunnels simply to screw with each other.

>>I wonder why the Israelis have never interfered.

>They are probably hoping it will collapse along with the Dome of the Rock.

Do you think that they're that devious that they actually want to lose the holiest site in their religion?

Devious no......there is nothing devious about what I am suggesting. The Temple Mount is a thorn in the Israelis side. If gone, it would be one less headache for them. Its part of the claim the Palestinians/Arabs have on Jerusalem.

Your article and the article below say it all. Both sides are screwing with each and with the site. The Israelis are in the position of damned if they do and damned if they don't. And Temple Mount gives the Palestinians one more thing about which to complain. Its sickening. They all should be shot and put out of their misery.........squabbling like kids over candy.

For the Israelis if Temple Mount went away it would be one less thing to fight over. Now I understand why everyone wants Jerusalem to be an international city. The Israelis and Palestinians are way too immature to be in control. Its a pity.
