The Italian agent said that they were not speeding and were given no warning. The Italian journalist said essentially the same thing.

No speeding does not equal "slowed down". "Didn't notice the warning" doesn't mean "warning wasn't given".

As for the Italian journalist's take I don't really give her version much credence. She also claimed there was a hail of gunfire, and even that the car came under attack from tanks.

In the meantime, the US Army knew that they were coming to the airport with the Italian journalist.

Apparently they didn't. At least according to the American military version there was no prior coordination. Yes the car would have hit other checkpoints but that doesn't mean there was some sort of mass announcement. Even if there had been such announcement it doesn't mean that the car would have stood out from the rest of the traffic.
