I'm not sure.

In the case of the lab, they began shortly after we got her. She'd been a rescue dog, so we don't know her parentage. It was much like irritable bowel syndrom. The vet was on the verge of recommending that we put her down when he said, let's try changing the food to a low fiber diet. Bingo. Worked just fine.
