Thank you. I think the Microsoft program may have fixed my problems. I also think it was a "browser hijack" and the Microsoft program takes care of that as well, though I do not understand all the ramifications and possibilities for the settings.

But at least the green-nighlighted links in all the postings seem to be gone.

There is one browser toolbar (or something) that the Microsoft program cannot seem to knock out.

I am also currently running Norton Antivirus and will see if it catches anything.

This morning there were about six icons on my desktop, three for porn sites and three for things like how to win a free computer. These I put in the recycle bin and emptied it.

All very annoying.
