From what I know, QNX is another real-time operating system. Seems to have quite a market share in control systems for factories and manufacturing environments. Spoke to a fellow traveller late last year who was using QNX to control and manage instruments in his plant. He said that it had a very small footprint(and he brushed off Microsoft's attempt to push NT as an alternative)and was most impressed with the company's support.
