I think it was your terminology that puzzled Alan. It did me the first time you used it. I'd never heard the expression "getting the car smogged" which sounds sort of bad- like being egged.

It's a required part of our state inspection so we just say, "getting the car inspected". Is it not part of a whole vehicle inspection there or is it separate? It is done anually here.
