Well I just took a break from work, went down to the lounge and read 'Newsweek', and had a glass of wine to boot. Relaxing, to say the least, whilst sitting in front of a nice Minnesota fireplace.

There are two articles I strongly recommend each of you read:

'What Bush Got Right';

and;

'Back to the Front'.

It is not my place to turn this thread into politics, although I see no reason not to mention politics, nor do I see any reason as to why politics needs to result in a thread war. It is what it is, no more, no less. It is like it or not intertwined with investments.

My take on the first article is that Bush and Co have a decent chance of turning the ME into something it has not been, yes a Democracy. Does this mean they are all genius's? No of course not. If it happens what it likely means is that the time is right, and for some unknown reason this momentous era in history is happening. Only time will show, and much more time is needed. However, imho the positive news for this happening, as of recent, has far out weighed the negative.

The second article is of interest because it demonstrates how far we as a society have progressed, and it also demonstrates how technology plays a part in many of our lives. I am the father of a handicapped child, and I find all of this truly amazing and refreshing. Technology is progressing very rapidly here, still, and is having an impact in our society. We are all living it too. Nice to be a part of something positive, and to see that technology can truly make personal life more fruitful, for many.

I also want to say that both of the articles are 'American' driven. America includes North America and South American, but by in large is led by the US. I am not an historical expert, but am less than ignorant as well. My take on history is that 'Americans' have over the last several years done much more 'right' than 'wrong'. Could it be that this will continue? Yes, I think so. I am very positive on this.

And as the dollar crashes, what does all of this have to do with investments, and 'America' getting it right?

Well think about it a bit. As the dollar crashes Americans, namely Yankees, will have to go through some painful adjustments. Of this there is no doubt. But what about the others? Well maybe the dollar will get through the pain it has to first, all the others will follow, and will have to go through even worse pain. This is easily plausible. It is my suspicion that by in large the reason all of this is happening is that many of the 'others', not to mention names, have found and are utilizing means to falsely adjust their currencies, and keep them weaker than a free market would otherwise allow. These schemes (found out by the schemers) never work, and are in a slow process of being found out. The dollar is but the first casualty in that process. The casualties that follow will be even harder hit.

In short what seems likely in the American markets, following a true top, is a long period of adjustment. But what could follow in other markets might just be true crashes. I doubt many of us here will live long enough to see it through.
