Kasai Kogyo Co. (TSE:7256) plans to spend 1 billion yen (US$9.6 million) to set up a factory that will produce parts for car interiors in China's Guandong Province this April.

Kasai Kogyo will supply autoparts to Dongfeng Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co.'s (TSE:7201) Chinese joint venture, for its new Tiida subcompact scheduled to debut in China this spring as well as for Toyota's Camry.

Chinese sales for the current fiscal year are expected to reach 700 million yen and to rise to 1 billion yen next fiscal year. The company sees its Chinese sales for the year ending March 31, 2008, reaching 1.6 billion yen.

The firm will set up the 12,000-sq.-meter facility in Guangzhou, where Dongfeng Motor's factory is located.

Kasai Kogyo already operates a 5,000-sq.-meter plant in Guangzhou that supplies auto interior parts for Nissan's Sunny subcompact. The existing factory's operations will be consolidated at the new facility.

The company plans to expand its annual output capacity from about 20,000 parts currently to 60,000 to meet the demand from growing automobile production and from the introduction of new models in the Chinese market. Kasai Kogyo also has a factory in Changzhou, but most of its sales come from the Guangzhou plant.
