Dabum, thanks for the chart on DRRA. While I along am not the only person in the stock, I unwound a pretty good sized position in December 2004. As you can see, there was one red candle in early December. I sold 1K shares on December 7th but it then started to have trouble breaking over the 50 ma. I started measured selling on 12/15 which gave inventory to the market makers to mark up and sell. Between December 15 and December 20th, I sold 16,000 shares of DRRA on 42 separate sales orders, always to the highest market maker's bid. This gave them an incentive to mark up the shares and get the public interested in buying what seemed like a stronger running stock. I finished selling my inventory on December 20th. The stock ran another 20 cents or so as the market makers distributed my stock after I quit selling. At this point, there was no inventory left for them to sell. The stock fell after that.

The TSV chart on DRRA looks strong in December. Yes, it was going up but only because I was giving the market makers inventory to sell. I've traded DRRA for about six years and know if I had put all 16K shares out at 10 per share at the start of December, I'd still be owning it. This goes to my point that OBV or TSV charts may seem to indicate strong buying where in fact it's actually a large holder selling and the market makers distributing that stock to an uninformed public.
