Nobody with a brain buys a stock for what it did before. They buy for what they think it'll do in the future. What the market is saying is that they: a) Don't think the profit is sufficient to justify the price. b) Don't think the likely future profit is going to justify the price in the future. Always remember "good company" is not the same thing as "good investment." A good company is only a good investment if you get it at the right price.
