That's completely true, of course. It's quite rare for children to die of accidental plant poisoning. All I was trying to do was get across the idea that there are a LOT of dangerous plants around, and that we should be aware of it.

I've read a theory that the queasy stomach of pregnant human females is an evolutionary adaption that helps prevent birth defects. The idea is that if they are very picky about their food, they are less likely to ingest slightly toxic plant material that could harm the fetus.
