Globalstar, Global Crossing - is there a difference?

Regarding Zn being a nutrient, surely you jest? The three main polluting metals in the benthic layer are zinc, copper and lead. Lead is decreasing now that it is no longer in petrol. We are using zinc as the indicator of mud pollution.

In some parts of the Waitemata zinc has been rising fast for a few decades. The main source is galvanized corrugated iron on roofs, especially unpainted roofs on industrial buildings. It has been estimated that in 1999 2500 tonnes of Zn went into the Whau estuary, and most of it stayed there. The most polluted arms of the estuary are probably beyond saving. (I didn't know any of this until recently, either.)
