Old people who have decided it is their time to die typically simply stop eating. I have heard from Schiavo's side the argument that starvation is a horrible way to die, but I have also heard that it is very mellow and gradual, anecdotally.

What side are you on re whether the state/her husband have the right to disconnect her feeding tube (if you feel like saying, of course)?
