Schweik is a suitably ironic citation here, my understanding is that particular work is both cynical and anti-war. Googling that quote turns up an extra dose of irony, though, the first hit turned up is Subject 55474 . Of all the distasteful manifestations of eternal vendettas on SI, I find the dedicated vendetta thread the most oddly obsessive.

The onanistic reference brings to mind a previous vulgarity episode here, available in summary form in Message 20934440 . Since Kumar only saw fit to repeat his vulgarity once, I guess he gets credit for being somewhat less pleased with his display that carranza2, who felt oblidged to repeat his witty vulgarism 5 times. On the other hand, Kumar resorted to the biffish ALL CAPS the second time around, so who can say?

Back in the past, there was an episode where somebody actually got booted by the SI moderators for acronymous usage of Kumar's capital exercise, dim echoes of which may be seen in the header at Subject 34445 . I don't know the people involved in that one, but it appears you do, Jewel . So many vendettas, so little time. There's also a much older ref at Subject 36460 , so maybe it's an SI tradition of sorts.
