zap is still disputing the epa claim that the car doesn't get 60 mpg. I imagine the smart car gets 60 mpg when you drive modestly. Also, the smart car has the advantage that it is small and can fit it well in tight garages and parking spaces. This can be a big deal to someone who lives in a crowded city like Los Angeles or San Francisco. I imagine it will also be allowed in the commuter lanes once the epa is fair about the real gas mileage.
