You know, Josh, men usually think they should have huge, manly dogs. Now there are a lot of very wonderful huge, manly dogs, but it isn't necessary to have a big dog. When my daughter got Lily, our Shih Tzu puppy, she seemed lonely after awhile. And she was starting to bathe herself constantly and fly around the furniture like a cat, which made sense because her only role models were our kitties.

So we started talking about getting another puppy, and my husband wanted a huge, manly dog of course, a dog he could take for hikes and roughhouse with and be his buddy. The funny thing is, even though we now have two larger, manly male dogs, Lily is his favorite. She has a lot more courage and energy and general spunk than either of the other two, even though they are wonderful dogs in their own right. And she sleeps right between our pillows, so we can cuddle her during the night without her stealing all the covers, which the larger dogs are notorious for.

I'm so happy for you that you have your puppy and are enjoying it so much.
