First I don't see how posting quotes of Ms Rice shows any intrinsic lack of integrity. Only dishonest or stupid individuals post using such logic.
Read what I stated before you jump to conclusions.
When Iqbal Latif posts a statement - whether by Rice or anyone else - which does not reflect what is happening in Pakistan, it is dishonest and misleading. If you cannot see that to be the case perhaps it is your intelligence that is called into question. Musharaff has talked incessantly about the need to reform the madrassas but if you know anything about what is happening in Pakistan, you will know that the hatred that is being spewed by these madrassas is unrelenting and directed primarily against the US.
These madrassas are the breeding ground for terrorists. Madrassas are not of themselves a problem - they exist in many Muslim countries and perform a valuable educational function. In Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, some of the most prominent ones spawn hatred and brainwash young kids.
Second this statement quoted from your post confirms Ms Rice's observations.
While Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf "vowed" in August 2003 to "finish off extremism," he notes, Islamic extremists routinely denounce Pakistani military operations in western tribal areas, resist government attempts to reform religious schools that teach militancy, and harshly criticize Islamabad's cooperation with the US government."
You display your ignorance of what is happening in Pakistan, yet again. Musharraf has talked a good game - but very little has actually been done. Rice can say what she wants - we need the cooperation of Musharaff after all - but it does not change the reality of what is actually happening there in with regard to the madrassas.
I would guess President Bush is hated more deeply by a higher percentage of liberals in the US than America is hated by Pakistanis.
Micheal Moore's movie 911 proved hating American liberals are among, if not the stupidest people on the planet.
I am not given to making the kind of sweeping nonsensical statements that you make above. I socialize with many Republicans and although I may disagree with some of their views, I would never categorize half the country as being stupid because they supported Bush or because they do not agree with me. You, on the other hand, feel that the other half of the country are among "the stupidest people on the planet" because they do not espouse some or all of the views of this administration.
Anyone who would make that sort of sweeping generalization demonstrates their own lack of intelligence - or lack of basic comprehension.
This is what Arnaud de Borchgrave - not exactly a liberal - had to say about Musharraf's approach to the madrassas:
"Nor does the Mr. Musharraf's constant appeasement of the MMA bode well for Pakistan's most urgent task -- reform of the madrassa network of some 10,000 Koranic schools where America, Israel and India are depicted as evildoers whose unholy alliance is out to destroy Islam. The country's clerics who run these jihadi (holy war) incubators and their MMA protectors have told government reformers to butt out. Some 5 million young Pakistani males have passed through the madrassa system since 1989 -- 750,000 this past year alone."
So get your head out of whatever dark crevice it is buried in and ascertain the facts before you make a fool of yourself.

Although it is dated from about a year ago, not much has changed since then.
You might do well to heed Mark Twain's admonition:
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." |
