Steve, you could say that about the other side. Nothing has changed as there are attempts at cowardly suicide attacks on a daily basis. The schools continue to preach hatred and that the West, Christians, Jews, etc., must be destroyed. Hamas is entrenched. Hizbollah is trying to take over Lebanon.

Funny how people just want to look at the world through their own bias.

I'd prefer to look at the positive from both sides and say we have a chance now that we have never had to find peace and to bring stability to the entire area. All parties will have to sacrifice and control their respective extreme elements. I include the extremists in Israeli society and politics here.

The hope that I have is that leaders usually have common sense when really pushed. You don't see Hamas leaders strapping suicide bombs to themselves. Instead, they find troubled individuals or children to do their cowardly work. The leaders are motivated by greed and power. The story is not a new one. It is one that it common throughout history.

As far as Israel taking land, most rational individuals realize that Israel will have to take some of the West Bank to have defendable borders. There will also have to be some regions that are under international jurisdiction, where Jews and Arabs can live together. East Jerusalem and some of the holy places will be in these zones along with some settlements. There is leeway.

Both sides should stop the hatred and blaming. Of course, this is reflected on boards such as this where extremists with agenda of bigotry will only point out the bad of "the other side."
