Within the last couple of days, Debian announced it was dropping 2 CPU architectures from its stable of Linux distros: SPARC and IBM S/390 mainframes. One of the ones that stayed--Itanic. 76% of Itanic server unit sales last year came from ex-Carly's HP. 76%! That means the same number of companies are selling Itanic boxes that sell SPARC boxes: one each. The long list of other companies that are nominally building Itanic servers, apart from HP which dropped its CEO and IBM which is dropping Itanic, each moved enough units to count on your fingers and toes.

I'm sure it was just a slip that you neglected to mention in your post that the very next line in the article you cite said that Microsoft was another loser in the Ajax situation.

But the days of Java vs. Windows as some big serious issue are pretty much bygones for both Sun and MSFT anyway. Sun's got much bigger things to worry about--like products that will allow them to continue in business.
