I need your help with this. When does one use a MACD of 12, 26, 9, versus a shorter term 5, 17, 9? I noticed you use a 10, 30, 5 MACD setting.

I know the usual setting is the first I mention, but do people get cute in trying to outsmart the masses by changing periods in order to anticipate a move? I know I like and usually look at the 5,17, 9 setting as it reacts faster, but now I see your different setting and it gets me thinking of trying to tinker with the various numbers.

Thanks for the education. I am not sure if there is a point where there is an overfit situation that renders the metric worthless.
