Anyone who compares the number dead from SARS to gunshot deaths, auto accidents, or other nonsense fails to understand the nature of infectious diseases.

For SARS there was only one Metropole Hotel that started with 1 physician that led to cases in 30 countries. If there were 10 Metropole Hotels, SARS would have been major pandemic.

Bird flu has a much shorter incubation time and a pandemic is inevitable. I have not seen any projections of 1 billion auto deaths or gunshot deaths worldwide.
