I am trying to figure out if you are just dense or whether your problem is an inability to comprehend the English language.

You say "I find it amusing anyone would take the CIA projections of something as complex as an economy seriously"

The excerpt that I posted is only tangentially related to Pakistan's economy - and even that would be a stretch. It outlines SIX trends that provide the basis for the CIA's projection. Here is what it states in bold letters:

"The report further identifies six trends that provide some basis for this doom scenario. These include political and economic mismanagement, divisive politics, a feckless bureaucracy, lawlessness, corruption, ethnic and sectarian differences and militant religious politics."

Only ONE of the six trends refers directly to economic factors and you conclude that the CIA report is a "projection of something as complex as an economy."

Now let me help you with the crux of the article - for which I provided the link - since your strong suit is clearly not nuances and subtleties when it comes to the written word.

The gist of the article had less to do with the accuracy of the CIA projection that Pakistan would be a failed state by 2015 and had more to do with the Bush administration's misgivings about Pakistan as a stable strategic partner based on the CIA and CRS reports. It also dealt with Pakistani concerns that the US would downgrade its relationship with their country down the line as occurred after the Soviet Union withdrew from Afghanistan. The lingering concern is that at some point, the US will seek to neutralize Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.

Now read the above again - SLOWLY - before you fire off your next missive.
