WASHINGTON (AFX) -- President Bush will nominate Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz to head the World Bank, a White House official confirmed. Wolfowitz will replace World Bank President James Wolfensohn, who is stepping down on June 1 after ten years. Under an unofficial post-World War II agreement, the U.S. has the right to select the World Bank chief while the International Monetary Fund has been headed by a European.
