>>If "they" really wanted to discuss the subjects they raise, rather than just hearing their own views echoed back to them, they would raise them in open forums instead of echo chambers and wouldn't reflexively attack (or ban) those with divergent views simply for having the gaul to express them.

If "they" or "you" want to carry on a discussion with like-minded people, that is perfectly acceptable. That's the moderator's call.

The "they ban we don't" is a flimsy soapbox. Some of the people who preach the loudest about that were in fact the most pre-ban issuers when that was allowed. Do as I say and not as I did?

Then we have those who post with the objective of provoking a ban, and then run "home" to complain. Like I said: childish.

Nonetheless, moderators have the ability to ban users at their discretion. Nothing prevents users from starting their own threads, moderated or otherwise, to discuss the subject if they are banned or disagree with a moderator's methodology.

>>>If they don't want to be subject to public criticism or ridicule, they shouldn't be posting on public message boards.

I would suggest that those who prefer criticize and ridicule others versus carrying on civil discussion are the ones shouldn't be posting on public message boards.
